Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? – Goldman Sachs, KKR, Janney Montgomery Scott

The latest moves, appointments and personnel changes in the North American wealth management sector.

Goldman Sachs
Goldman Sachs has appointed one of its senior figures, Brittany Boals Moeller (pictured), as region head of private wealth management, San Francisco.

The move will involve a relocation for Moeller, who is currently region head for the Southeast in the US and head of its global PWM strategy for NextGen clients. She has served as co-chair of the PWM Women’s Council since its inception in 2019, and joined Goldman Sachs in 2007 as an analyst, becoming a partner last year.

Hunter Pierson (pictured) will fill her position as region head for the Southeast, PWM. Pierson is a private wealth advisor in the US group’s Atlanta office, advising ultra-high net worth families, institutions and foundations. He is co-chair of the NPWA Development Council and was the regional captain of Institutional Client Solutions effort in the Southeast. Pierson joined Goldman Sachs as an associate in 2008.

Janney Montgomery Scott
Janney Montgomery Scott, the wealth manager and investment bank has appointed Tony Miller as CEO. He will be continuing in his current role of president, a position he has held since 2023.

Miller has been at Janney since 2002, serving in a number of senior roles.

Tim Scheve, who has joined the firm’s board of managers as an independent board director, was CEO and president from 2007 to 2023. Scheve, who is also a senior advisor at Accenture, has held C-suite positions at large financial services firms. He is also a director at Smarsh. 

In July 2024, funds controlled by KKR, aka Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, bought Janney Montgomery Scott from The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company.

At the end of 2024, the wealth manager had $150 billion in AuM.

KKR
KKR, aka Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, has appointed Guy Metcalfe, senior advisor,b who will be focusing on areas such as real estate. Previously, he was an MD at Morgan Stanley. 

In a career lasting more than three decades at Morgan Stanley, Metcalfe’s most recent role was leading the US bank’s real estate investment banking business before retiring as global chairman last year.

His career at the firm involved him in more than $850 billion of transactions.

“We’re thrilled to have an expert of Guy’s caliber join the KKR team as an advisor,” Ralph Rosenberg, chairman of real assets at KKR, said.

As of September 30, KKR managed more than $80 billion in property assets.
